As a child, I knew I had gifts that were bestowed upon me by something greater than myself. My ability to acknowledge and listen to a higher power guided me well in life. Unfortunately, due to fear of the unknown, lack of knowledge and understanding, and propaganda against the craft, I did not take the initiative to learn more of these magickal gifts.
After my Confirmation, I knew Catholicism was not for me. I read books on other religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim and Santeria. Although there are some aspects in these religions I liked, it was not for me either. Commitment in worshiping a deity and sacrificing my beliefs to prove my devotion, faith and loyalty did not feel right. Committing in honoring a deity and an ancestor and investing in learning and combining various traditions and culture to create a customized belief that fits me is what witchcraft allows me to do. And that is why I am here.
Witchcraft permits me to be who I am without sacrificing my beliefs. Witchcraft supports my ability to tap into my natural-born talents without restricting me into a specific tradition or culture. Witchcraft is freedom to explore new ideas and create new traditions. I am a Witch, and I am proud of that.
I want to thank Robert for his support even though he is a non-believer. I want to thank Paul Orr from Hex, whose guidance helped me keep my eyes and ears open for the opportunity to find a teacher and a mentor in my quest for learning the craft. I want to thank my teacher Luna whose pop-culture references helped paint a better picture on subjects not clear to me. I want to thank all my sisters and brothers for their support and help in this journey. And I want to thank Starr for being a mentor and a friend.

When I attended my first class, I was not sure what to expect. I was afraid WFT was a sham or some crunchy, granolaish group of people I could in no way relate to. From the time I stepped through the door, I knew I was finally home. That I was finally in a place where I could relate to my fellow classmates, a place where I would not feel so incredibly different and isolated. I finally found somewhere that I belonged. But, I did not know where my journey would take me. But, I was happy to hop on for the ride.
Fast-forwarding to 2 years later, the feeling of belonging and of being home has gotten stronger. My why finally materialized. I finally understood my purpose – to help and educate, these are my platforms. WFT has not only helped me to listen to my intuition, to not constantly question myself or my position in this world. They have helped me to walk in confidence, to do the work I was meant to do. They helped me to believe in myself when so many doubted, including myself. And most of all, they helped me to be part of something greater, something life changing, something that will make this world a better place for us all.
